Summary

On November 10, 1956, two military pilots saw one object southwest of Terre Haute, Indiana. The men were aboard an aircraft on a night flight. The object was in view for about seven minutes.

The report described a long red streak shooting upward. The pilots reported the aurora borealis was very bright with two red shafts. The weather was extremely clear with very good visibility. The original sighting may have first been made by two civilians.

The Air Force record card lists the cause as aurora. The aurora borealis was reported as very bright with two red shafts at the time. Project 10073 was the Air Force's official record system for reports of unidentified flying objects.
