Summary
On May 31, 1954, around midnight in the Westwood suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio, a civilian reported one object. The witness, whose windows faced northeast, saw a bright, star-like light between two tall trees about 200 feet away. The light seemed to pulsate and had the color of an old coal-oil lamp. It moved slowly from left to right on an almost horizontal line, passing behind one tree and back again. The motion seemed about as slow as the setting sun. Storm clouds then hid it. Air Force analysts noted the sighting matched an astronomical body. They identified the star Deneb at 45 degrees and Vega at 60 degrees in the northeast and said it was possibly one of these stars.
