Summary

On July 5, 1953, a witness in Washington reported lights in the night sky. The source was a civilian.

The witness was outdoors at night and reported many stars and no moon. The object was brighter than the sky background. The witness described it as solid and a glowing bluish light, seen by eye through open space. It moved across the sky and then disappeared.

The witness said it was hard to know the real size or distance. In Project 10073, the Air Force's official record system for unidentified flying object reports, this case was marked as astronomical.
