Summary

On July 29, 1956, civilian ground observers near Vancouver and Bellingham, Washington, reported objects in the sky. The sighting was recorded at 2230Z. One part lasted about one hour and twenty minutes.

The witnesses described two to five disc-like objects that were shining and moving southeast toward Bellingham. One object was oval and silver, about the size of a dime held at arm's length. It appeared to have small wings on each side.

The Air Force noted that a balloon was definitely identified in the area about thirty minutes after the sighting. The objects were moving toward Bellingham, and the winds supported the idea that the sighting was caused by balloons. The evaluation was balloon.
