Summary

On August 22, 1958, a sighting occurred in the USSR at sea in the North Pacific. A single object of undetermined shape was observed for two seconds due to brilliance. The object was green-white in color with no tail. It moved from left to right in horizontal flight. After traveling about ten degrees arc, a portion separated in a descending arc while the main portion exploded at nearly the same time. No increase in brilliance occurred during the explosion. Visual sighting only with no radar contact. The evaluation was listed as unknown.

UNABLE TO DETERMINE SHAPE DUE TO BRILLIANCE OF OBJECT. APPROX SIZE OF A PEA HELD
AT ARMS LENGTH. GREEN-WHITE COLOR WITH NO TAIL. BRILLIANT. NO SOUND HEARD.
VISUAL SIGHTING. NO ELECTRONIC CONTACT. TIME OF SIGHTING DUSK, NO STARS
YET VISIBLE. OBJECT APPEARED ABOUT 10 DEGREES ON STARBOARD BOW TRAVELING FROM
RIGHT TO LEFT IN HORIZONTAL ARC. WHEN ABOUT DEAD AHEAD A SMALL PART APPEARED
TO SEPARATE IN A DESCENDING ARC AND DISAPPEARED. ALMOST SIMULTANEOUSLY MAIN PORTION
