Summary

On August 25, 1960, near Uniontown, Ohio, a local resident and three children watched two shiny, metallic objects in the afternoon sky. The objects appeared round and roughly the size of a half dollar, and they seemed to spin as they moved. The witness first spotted them in the southeast, and after one disappeared, another similar object appeared below it. From the side, both objects resembled spinning tops, thicker in the middle than at the edges. The two objects then vanished suddenly at the same time.

The sighting lasted about three minutes. The observer reported the incident to the Air Force by letter on August 31, 1960. In response, Air Force officials at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base requested that the witness and other observers complete a detailed questionnaire for analysis by the Aerospace Technical Intelligence Center. The witness provided sketches and answers describing the objects as shiny discs with spinning motion, first seen toward the southeast.

In the official evaluation, the Air Force suggested the objects were probably high-flying aircraft reflecting sunlight, with atmospheric conditions creating the appearance of a spinning disc. No other explanation appears in the file.
