Summary

In early June 1958, around 10:30 p.m., over Tokmak in the Kirgiz SSR of the Soviet Union, a civilian reported a single object in the night sky. The sighting lasted about one minute. The witness was called outside by his landlord and saw the object racing toward the town from the west, then crossing a river and disappearing to the east or east-northeast. The object was oval or cigar-shaped, appearing about 20 to 30 centimeters across against the sky, and moved completely silently at very high speed. From its rear came a fiery glow that changed from blue-white, like an electric welding arc, to a red-yellow tail. The report was gathered later from the witness and filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The Air Force found there was insufficient information to form a valid conclusion.
