Project Blue Book Case File
Tipp City, OhioMay 1952
Summary
On the night of May 29, 1952, around 11:00 p.m. Eastern time, two Air Force officers watched the sky over Tipp City, Ohio, through a 6-inch telescope. One officer, a physicist, and a major saw an object that looked like a faint star, similar to a second magnitude star. It moved about 30 degrees across the sky, from near one star to another, in 10 to 15 seconds.
About a half hour later they saw the same or a similar object move from north to south between the same two stars, again for 10 to 15 seconds. Through 10-power glasses it appeared to show a steady green light on one side and a red light on the other, with no blinking and no sound. In both cases the light faded out.
The Air Force record for unidentified flying object reports, Project 10073, lists the conclusion for this case as astronomical. The card describes the objects as star or planet-like, and suggests the second object may have been a high-flying jet.
