Summary

On October 10, 1957, at about 1140 (Greenwich time) near Thermopolis, Wyoming, a civilian saw one round white object about the size of a quarter held at arm's length. The object flew straight from 100 degrees to 230 degrees in about half a second. The Air Force record card for Project 10073, its official record for unidentified flying object reports, lists the conclusion as astronomical, naming a meteor. The card agrees with the reporting officer that the sighting was caused by a meteor. The file includes a news clipping about a bright fireball seen across western skies that morning, which a Navy plane reportedly passed close to.
