Project Blue Book Case File
Texarkana, TexasJune 1954
Summary
On June 8, 1954, at about 1:00 a.m. near Hooks, Texas, a civilian arsenal employee reported one object for about two minutes. He described a circular object about the size of a washtub at 5,000 to 10,000 feet, moving downward at a rapid rate from the northeast toward the southwest over his house. The object was bright golden yellow, had no tail like a comet, and made a peculiar sound. About two minutes after it passed, he heard an explosion in the direction of the Red River Arsenal. That night, fragmentation cluster bombs had exploded in a revetment at the arsenal. Officials noted a minor electrical storm and a possible link in timing. The witness was judged reliable. The Air Force conclusion was unidentified.
