Project Blue Book Case File
Texarkana, TexasJune 1950
Summary
On June 27, 1950, at about 7:50 a.m., two workers at the Red River Arsenal near Texarkana, Texas, saw a shiny object in the sky. The men were riding in a federal truck when a passenger spotted it through the window. The driver stopped and turned the truck so they could keep watching.
The object was bright aluminum and glittered in the sunlight. It looked about the size of a large dishpan held at arm's length. It first appeared spherical, then looked flat on top and bottom, like two dishpans joined together. The men estimated it was high in the sky and flew from north to south in a straight, level path. It was in sight only about 4 to 5 seconds before it shrank and vanished.
There was no sound, odor, trail, or visible wings. The weather was clear with bright sun. The interrogator said both men were reliable and had good eyesight. The Air Force record card lists the case as unidentified.
