Project Blue Book Case File
Switzerland, September 1953September 1953
Summary
On September 13, 1953, about 2:00 to 2:30 a.m., a civilian in Switzerland reported an object in the sky. The witness filled out a sighting form and included a sketch.
The witness described a rectangular object he said was four times as long as a passenger plane's wing. He reported six rows of fifteen dark windows per wing section. He estimated it sped through 450 degrees within about four seconds and put its height at least 1,200 kilometers, based on a static drawing. It flew from north to south. One half was an aluminum bronze color and the other half was dark. It made no sound and had no visible engines.
The witness said the stars were clearly visible and the sun lit the object from the east. The flight lasted only about four seconds. The Air Force note said the witness could not give a clear description of the objects. The Air Force listed the case as astronomical (a meteor).
