Insufficient Data

Summary

On February 23, 1953, at about 2130 (9:30 p.m.) Central time, a husband and wife reported an unidentified light in southern Wisconsin. They were driving home from Lake Geneva. They reported it to the 755th Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron at Williams Bay.

The object was a light yellow, ball shaped light in the southwestern sky. They first thought it was an extra bright star. It was an estimated five miles away. It began to move north and gradually changed color from yellow to orange-red to red. The wife later saw it change to white. It then disappeared to the north. The sighting lasted two or three minutes.

The observers could not estimate the size, altitude, or speed. The object did not show on the station radar. The sky was clear with unlimited visibility. The Air Force concluded the cause was insufficient data for evaluation.
