Summary

On November 9, 1954, a witness near Salem, Massachusetts, reported a bright object in the sky. The sighting was a ground visual observation and lasted about 23 minutes.

The object was described as a white sphere that was very bright. It seemed to stay in one place but appeared to jump around. It then faded out of sight.

The Air Force record listed the case under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The conclusion was that the sighting fit the specifications of a balloon. The card also noted there was not enough data to warrant further investigation.
