Summary
On March 27, 1956, a civilian at Saginaw, Michigan, reported one object at 1105 (about 6:05 a.m. local). The report was made under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports.
The witness described one spherical object that was burnt orange. It had a grey band at the top and bottom, and the band looked irregular and about one-eighth inch wide. The object appeared to stay still in the west-southwest and seemed to break apart from the bottom up. The sighting lasted about ten minutes. There was no sound and no trail.
The Air Force did not list a final cause. The record said the color and spherical shape suggested a possible balloon. It noted that the chance of a large balloon was checked with negative results.
