Summary
On March 7 to 8, 1959, a civilian about 1 mile south of Dublin, Ohio, reported an object in the night sky. The sighting was about 7:30 p.m. local time (0030Z) and lasted about 4 seconds. The witness was a public accountant watching from near a drive-in theater.
He described one round, greenish white object about one tenth the size of the moon. It showed a glow only, with no sound and no trail. It was first seen about 50 degrees off vertical to the west, then moved on a heading of about 170 degrees and disappeared at the horizon. The observer said it looked somewhat like a satellite he had seen the previous summer, but much larger and brighter.
The Air Force concluded the object was astronomical. The record card said the description was typical of a meteor.
