Summary

This document collects several sightings reported in Russia from November 1952 to February 20, 1953. The source is foreign reporting passed to Air Force intelligence.

On nights in November and December 1952, lights were seen high in the sky over northern Russia. They changed color from red to white to green and followed an oval path. On December 6, 1952, a cigar shaped object was reported moving at great speed from the northeast. On February 20, 1953, between 1920 (7:20 p.m.) and 1950 (7:50 p.m.), a lighted object was seen rising and falling while moving slowly southward. It looked round, then cigar shaped, and changed color from red to green over about a half hour.

The Air Force comment said many of these sightings were believed to be the result of Soviet balloon activity, and that meteor showers might explain one of them. The card lists the conclusion as believed to be balloon.
