Project Blue Book Case File
Roseville, MichiganApril 1952
Summary
On April 27, 1952, near Roseville, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit, four civilian men with previous military backgrounds reported several unconventional objects. The sighting lasted from about 1615 to 1700 (4:15 to 5:00 p.m.) during clear daylight. The men watched with the naked eye and high powered binoculars.
The men first saw one round, silver object high in the northeast sky that appeared motionless. Through binoculars it was seen to turn completely over and take on an oval or egg shape with a dark underside. It seemed to drop straight down and then stop. Two larger, cigar shaped silver objects then appeared in the same area. About 1700 hours all the objects rose and left at amazing speed, the round one going straight up and the cigar shaped ones moving east and west.
During the sighting, another silver cigar shaped object was seen traveling at great speed and altitude from northeast to northwest. No sound, trail, or exhaust was reported. The sky was clear and cloudless. The witness said the objects were not weather balloons or aircraft. The intelligence officer rated the report F-0 because the source's reliability could not be judged. The record card notes no conclusion.
