Summary

In April 1955, a man in Roscommon, Michigan noticed an unusually bright object moving across the night sky. The object appeared at least four times larger than any star visible in the area. The witness watched it for ten minutes and estimated it was moving faster than any jet aircraft. He could not make out any details about its shape, color, or exact speed.

The Air Force's 3-C Flight investigated the sighting and concluded it was probably a balloon. However, the investigating officer was skeptical of the witness's account. The officer noted that the source had a reputation for telling tall tales and experiencing hallucinations. The investigation was closed due to the questionable reliability of the witness and negative results from the detailed investigation. The file states it was the officer's opinion that the sighting was generated by the source's imagination.
