Summary

On February 18, 1960, at 10 a.m., a resident of Rockledge, Florida reported seeing six slow-moving white objects at high altitude heading southward. The objects appeared in a V formation and were described as brilliant white in color. The witness, who was driving south on the river road, estimated the objects were moving slowly and seemed to emerge from behind a wooded area. There was no noise or light trail. A news article noted that large balloons had been released several days earlier from Wallops Island, and some balloons could become elongated when carried at high altitude by strong winds. The Air Force evaluation was listed as Other: Birds.
