Summary
On August 17, 1952, at 1615 (4:15 p.m.) Pacific time, observers at a Ground Observer Corps post near Richmond, California, reported a single silver object. The report came from a 28th Air Division message.
The witnesses said the object was about 10 to 12 feet long and silver in color. No speed, sound, or maneuvers were reported. They watched it for about six or seven minutes. The object was estimated to be five to seven miles away, but no direction was given. The named observers were civilians.
The weather was clear with no wind. The report notes one F-89 and one F-86 aircraft were in the local area at the time. A separate observer questionnaire describes a bright meteor like light seen from a hilltop home. The file does not give a final conclusion in the readable text.
