Summary

On August 24, 1951, at Rhein Main Air Base in Germany, a military pilot observed a bright light that seemed to fall slowly as if suspended from a parachute, then leveled off into a southerly course. The light made a turn to the east. It was extremely fast and round, white in color. The object or light appeared to travel very fast after leveling off. A visible path was evident through very light clouds, and starlight was quite bright. The altitude was thought to be very high, but the brilliance of the light made it appear to be much lower. The light was round, brilliantly white with no other colors, left no trail, and had a perfectly steady course subsequent to turns described above. The Air Force evaluation is unknown.
