On July 14, 1958, at 12:30 a.m., a military observer at Pyongtaek Auxiliary Airfield in Korea reported a sighting. A round, white object about the size of a baseball appeared bright as the planet Jupiter. The observer was standing behind quarters looking at the sky when the object appeared 225 degrees away, between 2000 and 5000 feet altitude. It faded to the northeast after 15 to 20 seconds. The object's estimated speed was 600 to 800 miles per hour. The sighting was ground-visual observation during clear conditions with good visibility. The Air Force concluded the case showed insufficient data for evaluation, though all characteristics of a meteor were not present.
