Summary

On February 15, 1956, a ground observer saw two objects over Pontiac, Michigan. The Greenwich time was 2325Z. The observer was a civilian at a ground observer post. The sky was completely overcast with scattered snow showers, and the overcast was at about 5,000 feet.

The two objects showed red, orange, white, and blue colors. They appeared to be at about 5,000 feet and headed south at a very slow rate of speed. They were still in sight at the time of the report. The witness watched for about ten minutes. Because the overcast was at 5,000 feet, the report noted the objects were below that altitude.

The case is filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The headquarters opinion was that the sighting was possibly caused by balloons, since the winds from the north northwest would fit that explanation.
