Summary

On August 4, 1952, personnel at a Ground Observer Corps post near Point Reyes, California, sighted an object that looked like a red flare with a 100-foot tail drifting behind it. The sighting occurred around 2244 hours (10:44 p.m.) and was observed from the ground. The object was seen approximately 2 miles east of Point Reyes. Weather was clear. The sighting was reported to multiple military intelligence offices. No sound was reported. The Air Force evaluation is listed as unknown.
