Summary

On July 16, 1958, in Oregon City, Oregon, a civilian witnessed a round object with a blurred edge on one side. The object was nickel-sized, red with a yellow halo, then turned white and gray. The color change resembled an eclipse. The object had a short rocking movement and disappeared instantly where it was first sighted. The sighting lasted three to five minutes. The object was observed at fifty degrees above the horizon during the night. An Air Force investigation determined that no plausible cause could be found from the information supplied.
