Project Blue Book Case File
Opa Locka, FloridaMarch 1963
Summary
On March 20, 1963, a woman in Opa Locka, Florida, reported spots of light in the sky while walking home at about 4:30 p.m. The lights were bigger and brighter than stars. Some were red, blue, and green, and others looked metallic. She counted more than one hundred, widely spaced, and said they could move, change pace, and seem to stop at will. She said they were not birds or planes.
The woman tried to contact newspapers, radio stations, the Air Force, the Weather Bureau, and air traffic control, but said no one seemed interested. Her main concern was that her report reach the right people. An Air Force officer and a science adviser later reached her by phone in April.
The Air Force, in its Project 10073 record, concluded the witness had spots before her eyes, a physiological function. The case was considered closed.
