Summary

In 1954, a fast moving object was reported over Oak Park, Illinois. The witnesses were civilians, and the sighting was made from the ground at 0030 Zulu time. The report was filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports.

Four people saw the object, three of them teenage boys. They described a round, silver fireball moving at a high rate of speed on a straight course. It was traveling north and was estimated to be at a very high altitude. It disappeared shortly after being seen. The weather was mostly clear. There was no radar pickup.

The Air Force concluded the object was a meteor.
