Summary

In April 1952, a witness near Moody Air Force Base in Georgia saw a metallic sphere about ten feet across traveling across the sky. The object had a copper-colored tint and appeared solid with sharp, well-defined edges. According to the witness's account, the sphere began in what seemed like a stationary position, then accelerated with a large oscillating motion that became smaller over time. The object trailed exhaust in a zigzag pattern as it moved.

The witness observed the object for approximately five seconds before it disappeared from view heading northwest.

The Air Force investigators noted a significant problem with this case: the sighting was not reported until seven years after it occurred, in 1959. Because so much time had passed, the Air Force concluded the report was too old to be of any investigative value. The case was evaluated as "unknown," but the investigators' assessment suggests the delay made the sighting essentially unusable for their research purposes.
