Summary

On the night of August 17, 1955, into the early morning, a civilian woman saw a strange light while driving northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada. She was an elementary school teacher who lived in a Las Vegas trailer park. The sighting lasted between about 1.5 and 2 hours.

She described one pear-shaped object, like an electric light bulb, giving off an intense bluish-white light. The light suddenly appeared in front of her car. She said it seemed to hover, then rose and moved around, appearing on all sides of the car at different times. She believed the object was interested in capturing her and her car.

The object stayed with her until dawn, then disappeared behind a mountain range to the east.

The Air Force concluded the report was due to psychological causes. The investigating officer wrote that the witness seemed sincere and intelligent but noted the possibility of paranoiac symptoms. Her reliability was listed as unknown.
