Summary

On October 14, 1957, at 2:20 p.m., a civilian observer in Newplatz, New York saw a round object about the size of a star with a yellowish flicker. The object seemed to float down slowly, then went out or dropped below the horizon. The sighting lasted several minutes. One object was reported. The witness was looking at the sky at about 75 degrees northwest of the horizon. The Air Force noted that winds and weather conditions were not provided, which made proper evaluation of the sighting difficult.
