Project Blue Book Case File
New Mexico, November 1958November 1958
Summary
A civilian passenger on a Greyhound bus saw an unusual object while traveling in New Mexico about a week or two before Thanksgiving in November 1958. The witness described the object as flat and round, with an aluminum-like appearance. According to the report, it moved across the sky at extremely high speed, faster than any jet aircraft the witness had seen.
The sighting was reported to the Air Force in a letter dated March 21, 1962, more than three years after the event. Because the initial report lacked enough detail to reach a conclusion, the Foreign Technology Division at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio requested that a more detailed questionnaire be sent to the witness to gather additional information.
The Air Force marked this case as involving insufficient data for evaluation. The full case file is reproduced below as held by the National Archives, spanning 7 pages.
