Summary
On August 9, 1955, near Saginaw, Michigan, a ground observer reported one rectangular, white object. The Air Force recorded the report under Project 10073, its official record for unidentified flying object reports.
The object looked about the size of a baseball held at arm's length. It was stationary and was seen to move only slightly. The sighting lasted about one hour and twelve minutes.
The Air Force noted that universities and a company in Minneapolis released balloons almost daily. A weather check found that balloons released there had been drifting toward Saginaw. Officials marked the case as possibly a balloon.
