Summary

On October 19, 1960, northeast of Bermuda, a bright light was observed in the sky bearing 010 degrees from a military vessel. The light was controlled by Capella, a star in the Capella constellation. The object appeared stationary for about five minutes, then moved erratically to the south at a steady pace. It traversed from bearing 310 degrees at position angle 45 degrees to bearing 045 degrees at position angle 30 degrees in a period of ten minutes before being lost from view due to clouds. A satellite was ruled out. The object was reportedly too slow for meteor and too high to be a star or planet. The Air Force evaluation was listed as unknown.
