Summary

On September 10, 1958 (11/0729Z), a civilian woman north of San Bernardino, California, reported an unidentified flying object at night. She described two objects, a large one in front and a small one above and behind it. They were shaped like a tear drop, about the size of a dime, and changed color from bright yellow and orange to blue-red. They had a small fuzzy tail. She reported that the objects caused buzzing on her TV set. The objects moved down, up, back, left, right, then stopped and faded. The sighting lasted about an hour.

Weather was clear with 7-mile visibility. The senior controller said the woman seemed sincere. The Air Force conclusion on the Project 10073 record card was probably astronomical, noting an astronomical plot showed a planet in the exact location given, and that atmospheric conditions can make a star or planet appear to move and change color. Project 10073 was the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports.
