Summary

# Multi-City UFO Sightings Over Florida and Georgia

In November 1957, multiple witnesses across Florida and Georgia reported seeing unusual aerial objects during pre-dawn hours. The sightings involved pilots, air traffic controllers, and ground observers who described bright, glowing objects moving across the sky in ways that seemed unusual for known aircraft.

One of the clearest reports came from Tampa, Florida, on November 3 at around 2520 Eastern Standard Time (just after 1 a.m.). A witness standing in a yard looked up and saw an egg-shaped object about 4 feet long and 3 feet wide. The object glowed bright blue, like the flame of a gas stove, and appeared to be descending like an aircraft landing at a 20 mile-per-hour speed. The sighting lasted between 15 and 25 seconds before the object disappeared. The witness initially thought it might be a meteorite but decided it was moving too slowly for that and too fast to be an aircraft.

The same night, personnel at Orlando Tower reported a similar sighting. A National Airlines pilot flying near Orlando also reported seeing an object of the same description. The Orlando observers noted the object was circular or elliptical and gave off an unusually bright glow.

A third set of sightings occurred near Valdosta, Georgia, during the pre-dawn hours of November 14. Observers standing on the ground and in a parked automobile watched a large, white, fluorescent circular light move from northeast to southwest. The object had a small orange trailing color and was so bright it lit up the area around the observers as it passed overhead. The light disappeared at approximately a 45-degree angle. The sighting lasted about 15 seconds.

The Air Force compiled these reports but reached no definitive conclusion about what the objects were. The file notes only that the cause of the sightings was unknown. The full case file, comprising 20 pages as held by the National Archives, is reproduced below.
