Summary

On the night of August 23, 1960, a resident of Miamisburg, Ohio saw a cigar-shaped object that appeared to be burning. The object was small, roughly one-quarter the size of a regular cigar, and colored orange. The witness watched it for between one-half and one second before it seemed to burn up, similar to a meteor entering the atmosphere.

The Air Force investigator who reviewed the case noted that the object's speed and color matched what you would expect from a meteor. Based on this analysis, the investigator concluded that a meteor was probably responsible for the sighting. The case file indicates no further investigation was conducted beyond this assessment.
