Project Blue Book Case File
Mexico, August 1952August 1952
Summary
This file covers reports of flying discs over several cities in Mexico in late August 1952, forwarded by the U.S. Air Attache in Mexico City. The reports came from U.S. consuls and Mexican newspaper clippings.
On August 26, 1952, about 0850 (8:50 a.m.), an oil company employee at Poza Rica reported a luminous oval object with two small wings crossing the sky from west to east. As it passed over the oil fields, witnesses reported a buzzing sound and electrical disturbances in power lines. On August 27, businessmen and dock workers in Tampico reported a silver, concave oval disc, about 6 to 8 meters across, that hovered for about five minutes and then sped north.
A Veracruz newspaper, El Dictamen, reported on August 28 that a blue green flying disc passed over the city at about 2:10 a.m. at high speed, the size of the half moon, with a buzzing sound like a high voltage transformer. The object left a faint greenish glow and moved from northwest toward the sea in about eight seconds. The documents pass along these foreign press accounts without a U.S. Air Force conclusion.
