Summary

On December 8, 1956, an airline crew saw one object over Medford, Oregon. The sighting was made from a commercial airliner flying at about 20,000 feet. The object was in view for about five seconds.

The report described one round white object with a streamer or tail. It was seen high above 16,000 feet, traveling north along the horizon. The sky above 16,000 feet was on top of broken clouds and in the clear. The observer believed it was not a meteor or comet.

The Air Force record card lists the cause as a meteor. The description, duration, and flight path pointed to a meteor. Project 10073 was the Air Force's official record system for reports of unidentified flying objects.
