Summary

On February 13, 1957, several civilians at Marrero, Louisiana, reported three objects over the area. The sighting was relayed through the Coast Guard to Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi. The case was logged under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The objects showed one white light and one red flashing light, with the red light compared to a sparkler.

The objects were seen circling over the Huey P. Long Bridge and Marrero at high altitude, in a V formation that changed to a straight line. They were estimated at about five miles altitude. The objects appeared to hover at first, then accelerated and disappeared when two aircraft came into the area. Moisant Airport radar detected nebulous targets. The event ran from about 8:20 p.m. to 9:43 p.m.

The Air Force noted that many Air National Guard aircraft were making approaches to Moisant from various directions at the time. The card said the described traits and maneuvers were generally those of aircraft, and the heavy air traffic gave strong support to that conclusion. The evaluation given was probably aircraft.
