Summary
On February 25, 1950, Atomic Energy Security Service inspectors at Los Alamos, New Mexico, reported an unusual aerial object. The sighting happened between about 3:45 p.m. and 3:56 p.m. The information was submitted to investigators by a chief inspector at Los Alamos.
The observers described a single object that was circular or shaped like a tapered airplane fuselage. Its size seemed to vary from unknown to about that of a small airplane. It was silver and flashing, bright and glaring. It appeared at varying distances of about 4 to 20 miles and at an elevation of about 30 to 35 degrees. It came out of the clouds heading toward the ground. The witnesses reported a fluttering, wobbling, or oscillating motion, and said the object seemed able to change course and to slow down and speed up. It made no sound, gave off no odor, and left no trail. It was in sight from about three seconds to two minutes before fading from view.
The report was filed by the local Air Force investigations office. After all leads were concluded, the case was closed.
