Summary

On July 16, 1957, at about 5:15 a.m. local time, a civilian family of three in Lorain, Ohio reported a sighting. Their home was on the south side of an avenue running along Lake Erie.

The witnesses saw four dazzling white lights, very high above the earth and about the size of a baseball. At first they looked like brilliant stars over the lake to the northeast, then they were seen moving. The lights passed over the house heading southwest. The witnesses noted a plane from Cleveland Hopkins Airport passing over at the same time, which they used as a time check.

The Air Force record (Project 10073, its official file for unidentified flying object reports) lists the case as probably aircraft. The comment notes there was very little formation, but the objects could possibly have been aircraft.
