Project Blue Book Case File
London, England, December 1950December 1950
Summary
In December 1950, in London, England, news broadcasts reported small transparent objects that resembled bricks or ice falling from the sky over Great Britain. The report is part of Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The source was news reports and a newspaper clipping.
The account said several of these objects were found, but an investigation showed they had nothing to do with experiments by any branch of the military. One commentator remarked that it looked like more flying saucers. The Air Force note suggested the British be contacted for further details.
A newspaper clipping in the file reported that chunks of ice had fallen on various areas of Britain over several months, with one piece killing a sheep. British air ministry officials said some of the ice apparently formed on aircraft, but at least one block fell when no planes were overhead. Records also showed ice had fallen in the area as far back as 1858.
