Summary
On May 30, 1954, at about 4:46 p.m. local time near Las Vegas, Nevada, two Air Force pilots in a C-47 on a cross-country flight reported one object for about 10 seconds. They described it as cylindrical, about the size of a B-36, with no wings or tail surfaces, and gray in color. The object traveled at what the pilots called a phenomenal speed at about 8,000 to 10,000 feet on a heading of about 65 degrees. The C-47 was flying at 10,000 feet. The weather was clear with 30 miles visibility. Air Force analysts considered a meteor based on the flight and short duration but said the data was not enough for a firm answer. The conclusion was insufficient data for evaluation.
