La Aurora, Guatemala, June 1957June 1957
Summary
On June 14, 1957, at about 5:55 a.m. Zulu time, observers near La Aurora Airport in Guatemala reported a sighting. The report came through a U.S. air attache and was credited to several Guatemalan witnesses. The weather was cloudy with a light drizzle.
The object was round, about the size of a grapefruit, and a bright orange white color seen even through thin clouds. It made no trail or sound. It appeared in the southwest and moved slowly overhead at about 5,000 feet in a straight line, making frequent definite stops. It then reversed course to the west and made an abrupt climb, shrinking to the size of a pinhead before going out of sight. The sighting lasted about 15 minutes.
The Air Force record (Project 10073, its official file for unidentified flying object reports) lists the case as insufficient data for evaluation.
