Insufficient Data

Summary

On March 1, 1958, off Kunashiri Island, Japan, fishermen reported two luminous objects in the night sky. At 8:34 p.m. they saw a glowing body that disappeared after about 10 minutes at an altitude of roughly 2,000 meters. Its color could not be determined. At 9:03 p.m. the same day, they saw another glowing body rise gradually for about 20 minutes before disappearing. Its color was not certain but was not red or green. The reports came from Japanese fishermen and were recorded by a maritime safety agency, which did not investigate further. The report was filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The Air Force noted the witnesses would likely know local weather and clouds, and the case was marked as insufficient data for evaluation.
