Summary

On May 17, 1958, near Kisalon on Mindanao in the Philippines, a civilian, a Catholic priest, reported a single object in the night sky. The sighting lasted less than one minute. The object was a very bright, silvery-bluish round body that gave off sharp rays all around and was more brilliant than the planet Venus. It seemed to linger in a small upward curve and then dash down again, covering about a 90-degree arc. It moved generally to the north and disappeared behind a mountain. There was no light streak behind it. The priest was described as an experienced and qualified observer. The report was filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The Air Force concluded the object was a meteor, with the change in its path attributed to atmospheric conditions.
