Summary

On August 27, 1956, a military ground observer in Kent, Ohio, reported a single object. The sighting was recorded at 1750Z (day) and lasted about two minutes.

The witness, a 14-year-old ground observer corps spotter, described one silver, cigar-shaped object, about a half inch long with the naked eye and three inches long through 7 by 50 binoculars. The object was sharp on one end and blunt on the other and made no sound. It moved at about 120 miles per hour at a very low altitude toward the southwest.

The Air Force said the shape, size, color, speed, and duration pointed to the probability of an aircraft. The evaluation was aircraft.
