Insufficient Data

Summary

On the night of September 20, 1954, amateur astronomers reported objects in the sky over Ionia, Michigan. The two civilian witnesses told civil defense officials what they saw, and the report reached the Air Force through newspaper clippings.

The observers said they tracked three glowing but unidentified objects across the sky. The objects were said to be traveling at tremendous speed at an extreme height. An air filter defense center in Grand Rapids reported there was no radar contact with the objects.

The Air Force record listed the conclusion as insufficient data for evaluation. The case was filed as part of Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports.
