Insufficient Data

Summary

On the night of January 14, 1958, in Houston, Texas, a civilian reported four oval-shaped objects in the night sky. He was in his backyard about 10:30 p.m. using a telescope. He saw the four objects flying one behind the other in a tight formation, very low, crossing his line of sight in less than one minute. The objects were not lit and looked grayish from city lights. He estimated their speed at less than 200 miles per hour and their size at 30 to 40 feet. There was no sound. The account came in a letter sent to a magazine and forwarded to the Air Force. The report was filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The Air Force said the objects were probably high-flying jet aircraft in formation. Because the report came as a letter with little data, the Air Force called the record very unreliable.
